Top Speed: 25km/h to comply with EN15194
The El Hefe complies with EN15194 Australian e-bike standards allowing you to ride your e-bike rego and licence-exempt under Australian law, just like you would a pushbike.
Vamos Bikes are classified as electrically power-assisted cycles with a continuous rated power of 500 watts. The motor automatically disengages once the bike reaches a speed of 25km/h. If needed, the power output can be further restricted to comply with specific regulations. Throttle use is permitted only on private property and must be disabled when riding in public spaces.
Key Feature
Half Grip Throttle
If pedalling is not your thing, then use the half grip throttle to control your speed when using the motor. Requiring just a half twist around the handlebar to reach full output, this throttle is super user-friendly regardless of your riding experience.
Fat Chaoyang Tires
26′ (tall) x 4′ (wide) fat Chaoyang tyres will catch the eyes of people you cruise by whilst allowing you to explore different terrains with their superior traction profile. Cruise the pavement or get off-road. With serious off-road capability on mud, sand, dirt or grass, these tyres will have you staying on-track.
Front & Rear Titans Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Brakes are crucial for safety, especially with a high-powered motor. El Hefe features Titans hydraulic disc brakes on both front and rear, ensuring you can stop safely and suddenly when needed.
Torque Sensor
Most Vamos Bikes are equipped with advanced torque sensors that measure how hard you're pedaling and adjust the assistance accordingly. This provides a smoother, more natural ride while helping to preserve battery life, making every journey more efficient and enjoyable
Powerful 500W Vamos Rear Motor
Located within the rear wheel, this compact, light, and discreet motor delivers high power and torque for a bulkier cruiser. Pedal to activate the intelligent 1:1 pedal assist or use the half-grip throttle for a motorbike-like experience.

What Are The Australian E-Bike Laws?
Visit your local state government website for latest e-bike laws. Generally, motor power must not exceed 250W, and the max pedal assist speed must be 25 km/h.
When it comes to road legal eBike laws in Australia, it is important to note that you should always check your local laws for the latest rules and regulations. However, there are some general guidelines that apply across the country (at the time of this writing):
- A road legal eBike typically must have a maximum motor continuous power of 250W. However, in New South Wales (NSW), the maximum power allowed is 500W.
- The maximum pedal assist speed for a road legal eBike is 25 km/h.
- If the eBike is equipped with a throttle, it must be locked to a maximum speed of 6 km/h. This means the throttle can be used as a start aid to begin your ride and gain some momentum, but once you reach 6 km/h, you must start peddling and use the pedal assist mode.
- In pedal assist mode, the motor provides assistance as you pedal. On higher pedal assist levels, you may find that you barely need to put force on the pedals, resulting in a similar riding experience to using an unlocked throttle.
Is A Licence Required To Ride An E-Bike?
No licence is needed if your e-bike complies with Australian road legality standards.
Which Frame Type Is Best For Me, Step-over Or Step-through?
When it comes to choosing a bike frame type, there are a few factors to consider. Step-over and step-through frames are the two main options, each with their own advantages and considerations.
Step-over frames:
Step-over frames are the traditional choice and are characterised by a top tube that runs from the handlebars to the seat post. It is believed that step-over frames are lighter and more rigid, making them ideal for riders who prioritise speed and performance.
However, due to advancements in frame technology, many step-through frames are now just as light and provide comparable strength.
Therefore, the advantages of step-over frames are no longer as significant as they once were.
Step-through frames:
Step-through frames, on the other hand, offer more practicality and ease of use. With a step-through frame, you can get on and off the bike without having to lift your leg over the top tube. This convenience is especially beneficial for riders who prioritise practicality over the aesthetics of the bike. Step-through frames are also better suited for shorter riders, as the top tube of a step-over frame may make it difficult for them to stand over it comfortably.
If a bike is going to be shared among family members with different genders and heights, a step-through frame is recommended. Additionally, if you plan on carrying a surfboard on your bike, a step-through frame is better since you won't have to step over the frame and the surfboard rack each time you want to get on or off the bike.
However, it's important to note that some customers prefer the look of a step-over bike. Furthermore, a top tube can be useful if you need to mount a child seat at the front or carry cargo, or if you want to attach various accessories to the frame.
A few years ago, 70% of our customers preferred the step over frame and 30% preferred the step through frame. Now the trend has changed towards the step through frame, with 60% of our customers choosing it and 40% going with the step over frame.
It's up to you to decide which frame type is best for your needs or looks more appealing to you. However, if you can't decide, we would suggest going with the step through frame.
Battery Maintenance and Prolonging Life Tips?
On average, batteries last 500-1000 recharge cycles or 2-4 years.
Proper maintenance of your eBike battery is essential to ensure its longevity and optimal performance. By following these tips, you can prolong the life of your battery and enjoy a more reliable riding experience.
1. Charge between 20% to 80%
Keeping your eBike battery's charge level between 20% and 80% can help double its longevity. Avoid draining the battery completely or letting it sit at full charge for extended periods.
2. Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Extreme temperatures can negatively impact your eBike battery's performance and lifespan. Do not expose the battery to very cold or very hot temperatures, as this can cause permanent damage. Store the battery in a cool and dry place when not in use.
3. Use the Original Charger
Always use the original charger that came with your eBike.
4. Avoid Overcharging
Do not leave your eBike battery on charge for an extended period after it has reached full capacity. Overcharging can strain the battery cells and shorten their lifespan. Unplug the charger as soon as the battery is fully charged.
By following these guidelines, you can optimize the performance and lifespan of your eBike battery, ensuring many enjoyable rides for years to come.
